INDEX

Morrazo Peninsula is a small spit of land that makes its way to the Atlantic between the Rias of Vigo and Pontevedra. It takes in five villages: Bueu, Cangas, Marin, Moaña and Vilaboa. The area is ideal for both, to live and to be visited at any time of year. This is due to the climate, the landscapes, the people and of course the many beaches. This is not an opinion of Supema SL, all residents and visitors can confirm.

Cangas' visitors will be surprised because of the landscapes, with beaches everywhere. There are almost 40 beaches, each of them with a singular beauty. The beach of Barra, for example, is a paradise for nudists. Cangas still preserves what is traditional and typical in its streets, together with ancestral customs. Hío Cruceiro (Wayside Cross) is one of the most beautiful cruceiros in Galicia. Baroque influenced, it displays the Unnailing scene. The history of this area dates back to the Celts and Romans. A reminder of this is O Facho, a mount with a celtic settlement and an ancient stone lighthouse (from the 17th century, but there was an older version in the same place). The hike up to the top of the hill is well worth the views, and if you are lucky to stay for a sunset, you will be amazed by the beauty of the area.

At the entrance of the rias are the Cíes Islands and the Ons Islands, part of a national park where one may contemplate interesting samples of fauna and flora. They are one of the main tourist attractions in the south of Galicia, not only for their natural interest, but also for the ruggedness of their cliffs and the whiteness of their beaches. They protect the rias from storms coming in from the Atlantic, permitting the presence of numerous bateas (mussel-farming platforms) in its waters.

Vigo's Ria is home for the city that gives it its name, the biggest of Galicia and one of the best harbours in Europe. It is famous for the battle of Rande, which took place in 1702, when a Dutch-English army sank several Spanish galleons carrying gold from America, and the French warships that escorting it. Julius Verne talks about this submarine treasure in his novel "Twenty-Thousand Leagues Under the Sea". To the northeast, the ria is crossed by the spectacular suspension Rande Bridge, with one of the longest spans in the world.
